"Should we be expecting an annoucement by the end of week?"

I know that I have been away for...a very long time, but I promise I have a valid excuse!
Ok I don't but you know what... I just tend to update my Facebook a lot more really.

But I guess I should update once in awhile here, so here goes...

I am now in my junior year of college, which is just as frightening as it sounds.

I am a English Literature Major, hoping to write my senior thesis on war memoirs and novels, as well as a American History Major, hoping to write my senior thesis on the effect of war memoirs and novels and their effect on how we see the events of war and its overall history.

I am now the preside of the Aurelia Reinhardt Historical Society, a club on my campus hoping to change the perspective of our community about history, especially in relation to our own community history. I am usually really busy because of this nowadays.

I am also the publicity Chair for the Mills College Feminist Democrats, a club on campus that thrives to inform the community of elections and advocate the Democratic party politicians, and some of their agenda.

My profession is Upward Bound Tutor, meaning I help High School Students do their homework as well as help them study! It's quite more fun that it sounds on paper.

I am still addicted to TV I am afraid, but I don't get to watch too much of it. I had the funniest conversation about TV today actually with Stevens, he said that my tv watching made me less human and disconnected me from humanity. I said that it was in the contrary that TV actually made me human. And so the debate is on about who is right. Though I think the trained psychologist might win this one!

I also continue to "dramatize simple aspects of life" as Stevens so nicely put it, but as I have told him I do it "only for a laugh and at nobody's expense, but the joke's target."

That about covers most of the things that I have been doing, well at least the good bits, some bits are best not to be written about now, and left for a better time.

Well until then, I bid you good day!

My Current Obsession: The Boys form Down Under

I know what you are thinking and let me stop you.

I am not talking about anything sexual or anything that has to do with that...NO.

I am talking about my latest obsession:

I know what is wrong with me, isn't there anything on American Television.

The answer is yes, but everything is a horrible rerun!

I am not a big fan of reruns! And usually I would be obsessed with BBC, but now I am obsessed with ABC!

Not the one owned by Disney...NO, but Australia's Broadcasting Channel!

It all started with this skit...

and it was soon followed by man like these..

And if those haven't convinced you here is one of my favorite:

If you don't understand why I am addicted now then I don't think you may ever now....
IF you like leave a post

Writer's Block: Same Name

Have you ever met or known someone who has the same name as you (first and last) but is not a relative?

I have meet a lot of people with the last name Garcia it is very common here where I live. According to our ancestry that part of my family comes form these old immigrants form Spain that were once part of the royalty. That being from my dad's side.

My dad's side is Jimenez and they too were Spanish Immigrants who were farmers and other stuff according to the ancestry that we have.

As to my first name Victoria, yeah I have meet two other people with my same first name. The first one was my friend Victoria she is really funny and a fashion major if I remember correctly. And the other one was not so friendly and I was never really her friend.

That is basically it.
BTW I am done with finals and now have started my summer vacations. Well my summer vacations until I have to go find a job and start school.
ELAC here I come!!!!!!!!

Writer's Block: Home Cooking

When was the last time you cooked for yourself? What did you make?

It was yesterday I made myself dinner, I cooked some beans and I heated up some tortillas, then I made some quesadillas.

That was all acutally, it was a very filling meal.

And this was a very short answer.

Oh Well,

Have a goodnight!

The Clash!

Hello My name is Veronica!!!

So today I had to work with a partner for my Intro to Literary Studies, and she either didn't care or didn't look at my paper correctly, but she wrote down my name as Veronica. Then she send me an email saying:
Dear Professor
I am sending you Veronica's comments and I am also sending a copy to Victoria.

NOW here is the thing, either she doesn't really know my name and/or realized this when she wrote the email.
But my guess is that she is trying to correct in me and tell me that my name is actually Veronica and not Victoria. If this is so I am guessing that my mother is going to get pissed off. I am named after my grandmother, aka my mother's mother.

I talked to Matt about this and we talked about how if I tried to tell me that my name is Victoria and not actually Veronica, she would either:

a) debate me and tell me how wrong I am

b) ignore me and continue to call me Veronica

c) or say "I am sorry, I didn't know that Veronica."

I thinking that any of those would be just as funny to watch. I am actually thinking of writing a short story about this and call it Veronica, not Victoria.

Anyways that is my crazy College rant for you.

Good Morning and Good Luck

Writer's Block: You Don't Know Me

Our friends don't always know us as well as they think, particularly when it comes to likes and dislikes. Which popular book, movie, band, food, TV show, etc. would your friends be surprised to hear that you don't like?

Wow! This happens more than it should sometimes.

Ok here is the list:

Popular Books/Series:

Twilight: I don't care for it really cared, nor for vampires.

Harry Potter: I know what is wrong with me but I prefer to read the Adventures of Doctor Dolittle in the fourth grade, that and James and the giant peach! Oh and learn geometry!

I also am not very fond of A Christmas Carol and that is shocking because I love Charles Dickens works expect that one. I don't know I think that muppets might have ruined that one for me.

But I think what would shock my friends more is that I rarely read contemporary books. I like to stick with the classics. Unless I am reading a good rock idol story, but that is another genre.

Ok this is a hard one because a lot of my friends have different points of views on cinematography, some because they like to call themselves cinematographers. But if I have to be sincere here are some of the movies I can't stand to watch.

Titanic: Ok this might make me anti-grilie and anti-American but I don't care. I am sure that the actual event must of been horrific and I have watched documentaries on it, but this horrible Hollywood version makes me want to throw something at my TV, and this a lot coming from me, one of the number one fans of TV. The problem with this movie is the romance or lack of. I mean for crying our loud she kills Jack!!! AHHHHH!!!

moving on....actually I think that is it.

My Chemical Romance: They are just so many emo bands this world can take.

The Beatles: I don't hate them it is just that at the time I began to listen to band they were too happy for me. I like the Rolling Stones better then and now sadly. Sorry.

The Casualites: All of my friends loved this band and I never thought much of them.

Sublime: Ok I know that I have their CD on my ipod and all but I really don't like them. I think somebody gave me their music a really long time ago and I left it there.

Whole or semi whole tomatoes: I find them gross. I don't know why. I like tomatoes just not whole or smei whole.

Lamp or sheep: first of all Lamp of God...why would I want to eat it and second of all Lampchop! Come on people. Sheep is more of chivo thing and that comes form my cultural traditions.

some type of fish: especially the one that still has its eye and is looking at you. Gross!!!!

TV Shows:

Lost, CSI:Whatever, Law and Order, SVU:Whatever: All these shows and some like them are not my cup of tea.

Other things I don't like:

Some shades of the colors: green, yellow, pink, and orange.

Certain type of fabric and fabric colors that I know will : one fade and two rip easily. ( I spent too much time in the Los Angeles Fashion District as a kid.)

Cheap Clothing that will fray. (Once again too much time at the Fashion District)

Paying too much for something I can get cheaper, especially if the quality of the thing is bad.

American Apparel: I just hate them and going into it would take too much time.

used bookstores that charge way too much money on their used books!

And most importantly:people who stare at you for no apperant reason. Why? There is no reason!

Have a good day!

Writer's Block: LiveJournal Book Club

Out of all of your favorite books, pick just one you'd recommend everyone read. As a bonus: why did you pick that one?
I know that if you know me, then you know that I will always recommend The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway. It's kind of like the number one book for me and I always tell my friends to read it.

For me its really just a classic and perhaps one of the best books around. I read it when like maybe three years ago when I was conflicted as to what I wanted to do in my life, and literally form it I got some what of answer. I know that by reading my posts you will probably think that my grammar is horrible and yes I am working on it and according to reliable sources it has improve. Hmmm what was I saying?

Oh right, So about like three years ago I didn't know what I should do with myself, I mean my compositions in my music class were just horrible and I felt like i was going to die. I had basically given music most of my attention and after three years of it i thought that I had failed at doing anything interesting with my life.
After moping around I found myself in my high school's library and in front of the H's in the classics section, and there it was...Ernest Hemingway The Sun Also Rises. I had read that this was the book for the lost generation. Since I felt lost, I thought might as well read it. So I check it our and the rest is literally history....

Well not really.

I didn't actually get to ready until I had check out the book for like three days. I was so busy doing long forms and other essays that I though I was going to die. When I did read it I became addicted. I wanted nay need to know what was going to happen next. I read it in like two days. i started on friday morning 12 am and finished on Saturday 11 pm . I read a lot of it in motion and I didn't really want to throw up. So that says a lot about Hemingway.

If you need to read more Hemingway after reading this ( which I did!) I recommend In Our Time and A Moveable Feast.
A Farewell to Arms is also good along with Death in the Afternoon. But my  all time favorite is The Sun Also Rises.

I know that this might not be really helpful, but giving more would be like a love letter to Hemingway and I can't find my best draft.

Have a nice day and thanks for readind!
